Ｍany years of basic research on pearls, which contain elements including precious proteins and minerals, is an asset unique to MIKIMOTO COSMETICS. We offer cosmetics that provide great benefits as a result of our extensive and repeated research.

For instance, it has taken approximately 5 years from the discovery of the unique element, pearl collagen, to its commercialization. It has been discovered that this collagen holds water much more easily than the collagen found in fish and pigs, and thus has a greater moisturizing effect when applied to the skin. Since we were commissioned with the daunting task of elucidating each of the components contained in pearls one at a time, it was a very exciting moment for me as a researcher when we came upon this extraordinary collagen.

As we have been fascinated by pearls and immersed in this research for many years, pearls never fail to astound us. Our work as researchers is made worthwhile because we are privileged to be able to learn about the mysterious gift from nature called pearl, and are able to pursue the tantalizing possibilities it holds for creating beautiful skin.

Furthermore, since pearls are products of nature, we feel that we have the responsibility to adopt Zero Emmisons phylosophy.
